The first movie tandem of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo is on track to be the biggest movie of the year!

According to reports, “A Very Special Love” has raked in a whopping P134 million as of Monday, August 11, 2008. This means the romantic comedy already broke the record of Caregiver which earned P111 million in two weeks.

The movie is now running on its third week and positioned to break the record of the no. 1 movie of 2007, One More Chance, which was also directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. The John Lloyd-Bea Alonzo movie has a record of P152.79 million.

If the winning streak continues, “A Very Special Love” could break the record of Sukob in 2006 to be the highest-grossing pinoy movie of all time. The Kris Aquino-Claudine Barretto starrer registered a box-office gross of P186.41 Million.

A Very Special Love” starring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz was graded “A” by the Cinema Evaluation Board in time for its premiere night at the SM Megamall.

The producers will get a 100 percent amusement-tax exemption by getting the highest grade of “A”.

Looks like the joint project of Viva Films and Star Cinema is all set to become a monster hit as it also received a GP or General Patronage rating from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

The last local film to receive an “A” grade was the animated movie “Urduja“. The last Star Cinema movie to receive an “A” grade was Sharon Cuneta’s Caregiver which is also a box office hit.

A Very Special Love will have its grand opening tomorrow in more than 100 movie theaters nationwide.

The romantic comedy also stars Joross Gamboa, Matet de Leon, Gio Alvarez, Marianna del Rio, Al Tantay, Irma Adlawan, and Miles Ocampo. A Very Special Love is directed by box office director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

Despite the threat of Bea-Lloydy fans that they will boycott the movie “A Very Special Love,” many still believe that it’s bound to break the box-office gross of last year’s no. 1 movie “One More Chance.”

A Very Special Love is a romantic-comedy film featuring the first team-up of the Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo and Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz on the big screen. Though the film was a collaboration of Star Cinema and Viva Films, the movie is still part of Star Cinema’s grand 15th year anniversary offering to the Filipino cinema-goers and is set to be released on July 30, 2008.

The movie is helmed by Cathy Garcia Molina, the person responsible for the box-office success of You Got Me, You are the One and last year’s no. 1 movie One More Chance that won for John Lloyd Cruz the Box-office King title and Bea Alonzo the Box-office Queen.

Once More Chance raked a whopping P 152.79 million last year. Can Sarah Geronimo’s debut movie surpass the said amount? It’s possible! Sarah Geronimo is one of the few celebrities that has a very solid fanbase here and abroad. Add to that a love team-up with the current Box-office King of Philippine movies with a movie helmed by the Box-office Director, how can they go wrong?

Sarah Geronimo confirmed on the Buzz yesterday that she told Mark Bautista to stop courting her.
